Welcome. Enjoy Egg !

Welcome to our website – take a good look around.
You will find a brief intro and description of the house and its surroundings and of the possibilities Egg has to offer all year.

You will surely "understand" our gallery and also manage to navigate the contact form – despite the German text.

It was the great grandfather of the youngest Egg fan in our family who bought the house in the summer of 1939. Even then, both house and great grandfather were not so young anymore. Yet young and old feel at home there now as then.

Egg has so many sides. The house speaks to kids, teens, and those of us who think themselves forever young. There is much to enjoy. The mountain air, the sun, the warm old oven, the cozy atmosphere, being active or being lazy.

Our house is situated in a quiet part of the village. Down in the center there are well-stocked supermarkets, small shops, a book store, banking, postal services, a gas station.

The Bregenzerwald welcomes tourists, without being overcrowded. There is a tasty "cheese road" as well as world-renown architeture. A few surprises might await you, too.

You can drive up to the house with your car, and the bus is a 5-minute walk. Public transportation is inexpensive and well-organized. Buses go to Bregenz and Dornbirn, to Oberstaufen and deeper into the valley. A public outdoor pool is in walking distance, indoor pools in neighboring villages. Skiing? Galore. Upwards of a 100 km of slopes are just a short drive away.

Be lazy and cosy if you feel like it. Be sportive and outdoorsy if you want. Walk to the stores in the village center and back up the hill (10 min down, a little more up). Hike to the suspension bridge and on to the next village — or up any number of mountains.

Not perfect but comfy

Our house is old, possibly some 300 years old now. It is comfy and cozy and compatible with kids and families.

Besides the old parlor, there are 6 rooms with a total of 12 beds. (The beds, by the way, are 200 cm long, and tall people also need to keep their heads low around the house.)

The kitchen is equipped for 10-12 people. There is a dish washer, a fridge, a micro wave. A washing machine is in the first floor bath.

There is wifi and cell reception.

The house is heated by the rebuilt traditional oven plus an efficient gas heating system.

Fair fees

We have families in mind with our fees. Kids up to 6 years of age can stay for free, families get good fares, and for 6 days you have an extra day for free.

For wood, gas, and energy we charge by actual usage. The average usage for 4 people will come to about 5 Euros per day without heating and about 20 Euros per day with heating. After your stay, the house is cleaned for a charge of 50 Euros.
